KICKSTART MY HEART:
WHAT: Akaneiro Demon Hunters
WHO: Spicy Horse
HOW: PC / MAC / Browser (Open Beta)
“Akaneiro Demon Hunters is a free to play ARPG with classic design sense meets fast-paced action, inspired by Japanese themes and the Red Riding Hood tale.”
From playing the open beta this ARPG has an awesomely unique style and I am sure when the full game is released the depth of this will show. The art direction is very similar to Okami and the gameplay is similar that of a cut back version of Diablo/Torchlight. The game features the familiar elements from an APRG such as speaking to vendors and centres round a home hub as well as a the option to choose a companion to go along with you on your journey.
I think Akaneiro Demon Hunters is going to be pretty neat so check out the Kickstarter page and vote on Greenlight. (At the time of writing this it is around 50% funded and seems to be getting votes on Greenlight too.)
WHAT: Legend of Dungeon
HOW: PC / MAC / LINUX
“Legend of Dungeon is a 4 Player Co-Op Roguelike-like Beat’em’up with dynamic lighting on awesome pixel art.”
This game completed it’s Kickstarter in December 2012 but still needs your votes on Greenlight. Legend of Dungeon promises to be as addictive as it is fun to play with 4 player co-op, a nice little bonus to pixel art appreciating gamers who want to invite their buddies to help them raid dungeons. The character and level design has been brought to life with the dynamic lighting and randomised content. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for the release date.
Check out the video below and remember to vote on Greenlight.

WHAT I’VE BEEN PLAYING RECENTLY:
WHO: Arkane Studios
HOW: Xbox 360
WHY: Everything about this game from the art style to the robust UI won me over. I became pretty damn handy with a crossbow and as a result of my dislike of alarms, I now feel the need to try and find higher ground in every game since completion.
WHAT: Super Jumping Finn
WHO: Heavy Boat
WHY: I am a huge Adventure Time fan and this game made my life. My little collection of iOS games are my transportation entertainment of choice much like most of my fellow commuters. However it is rare that I find an iOS game that I want to play all the time, every time, 87% of the time *outside* of the tube. A SUPER addictive neverender with powerups stored in Finn’s trusty backpack to help you along. And with Jake to kick you higher and Lady Rainicorn to ride it really does have all the ingredients needed to save Bubble Gum Princess. My *one* complaint… where is Lumpy Space Princess at?
WHAT: Punch Quest
WHO: Rocketcat Games
WHY: Sickest 16bit iOS EVER. Seriously download this now. It is beautifully designed and wickedly addictive. But seriously you can ride a dinosaur that shoots lasers from it’s eyeballs, if that does not persuade you to play it then we cannot be friends.
HOW: Xbox 360
WHY: Yes I am playing Skyrim again. It’s my in-between games game because it’s everything I want real life to be and the Dragonborn DLC just looked too damn sweet to ignore. I’ve got my new digs in Solsthiem, been clearing mines, cleansing stones and reading black books. So far so good.
RATING: 9 out of 10 pizza slices (Over all rating of FUN)

We were excited to see what the Eurogamer Expo had to offer this year. The bets were placed for what was going to be lining the walls of Earls Court tube station and featured on the surrounding billboards. A splash of Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed and the PS Vita didn’t have us as excited as the previous years Fallout New Vegas, Final Fantasy XIII and Uncharted 3 takeovers we must admit. However, the sold out and queued out place was buzzing and we were ready to roll.
We are itching to get our hands on Halo 4 so the size of the queues to check them out made our eyes rain a little bit. In retrospect, it would have probably been worth it but we were pumped on free Mountain dew and were not going to queue for two hours just to get pwned. A good button basher is always a winner with team PT and we got our competitive on with a fair bit of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 action and enjoyed the bikini clad characters with the ninja death moves in Dead or Alive 5.
As fans of the Fable series we were eager to check out The Journey. It certainly looked impressive but unfortunately no headsets were supplied. The Lionhead team were apologetic and did warn people you would be waiting for the dialogue you cant actually hear to conclude a lot of the time. However sketchy the gameplay was due to Kinect interference (not my awesome hand-eye coordination obviously) it was fun to interact with and easy to pick up.
Meanwhile, somewhere amidst the booth babes and B.O we found our way to the indie game section where we had a peek at the 16 slick PC titles on display. We particularly enjoyed pushing each others buttons in A Bastard (George Buckenham), the player switching puzzleness in Tower of the Gorillion (Circuiton World Design), the cuteness of Where is My Heart? (Die Gut Fabrik) and the gravity defyingness in Zineth (Arcane Kids).
On our way out, we spied an amazing CL4P-TP cosplay. It was clearly the best of the day, sorry to creepy batman with toy monkey and the grumpy lollipop chainsaw chick… You didn’t quite make the cut.
Low points: Length of the Halo 4 queue, the price of water and spotting a strangely shaped Picachu cosplayer.
Highlights: Aliens Colonial Marines, ZombiU, Fable The Journey, Dead or Alive 5, Little Big Planet Karting beta and the unlimited shots of sticky mountain dew.
See you next year.
